FLORENCE, AL (April 20, 2023) – This upcoming weekend, the Association of Collegiate Anglers will host its first nationally televised, no-entry-fee event of 2023 on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. The Pickwick Slam presented by Evolution Fishing will be contested on April 22-23 at Pickwick and Wilson Lakes in Florence, AL. A full field of over 230 registered teams will be competing for more than $20,000 in prizes & contingencies, as well as double points to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.
“The ACA is looking forward to kicking off our first event of 2023 this weekend,” said Kyle Curry, ACA Managing Director. “With close to 460 anglers registered, and a lucrative payout to be awarded to the Top 20 teams, the ACA’s final regular season tournament before the year-end Championship next month is going to be a crucial event in determining who finishes the season ranked number one!”
The Pickwick Slam presented by Evolution Fishing is a two-day traditional five-bass limit format event. Take off and weigh-ins will occur at McFarland Park in Florence, AL. For those unable to make it out to the event, live weigh-in will be streamed on Outdoor Action. Weigh-in coverage will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, and 1:30 PM Sunday. Total payout for the Pickwick Slam presented by Evolution Fishing will consist of more than $20,000 in prizes & contingencies. The ACA will pay out the Top 20 teams in the final standings, as well as a Power-Pole for Overall Big Bass. While boasting a full field of 230 boats and a total payout exceeding $20,000, the Pickwick Slam presented by Evolution Fishing will also award double points to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. Each of the Top 10 teams in the National Rankings are set to compete at Pickwick Lake, as well as 20 out of the Top 25. Each of the Top 10 teams in the final standings of the Pickwick Slam presented by Evolution Fishing will earn automatic qualification in to the 2023 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops at Lake Hartwell.
