Top 3 remain the same as Bethel University holds onto 2nd and LSU-Shreveport stays in 3rd
SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 18, 2024) – The Association of Collegiate Anglers recently contested its second double points event to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. 262 teams competed in the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open, with 1,750 points going to 1st place, and teams being eligible to earn points for their two highest-finishing boats in the Top 150 of the overall tournament results. Following the completion of the second event of its historic 20th season, the ACA is announcing the latest points update to college fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system.
Carson-Newman earns enough points at Lake Dardanelle to maintain its spot atop the standings. Bethel University remains in 2nd, and 3rd ranked LSU-Shreveport closes the gap on the two teams ahead of them while holding firm in the Top 3.
Carson-Newman University entered the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open ranked 1st in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. The team from Tennessee held a 460-point lead over 2nd and 1,035 points separated them from 3rd. Leaving Lake Dardanelle, Carson-Newman increased its lead over Bethel University to 690 points, however LSU-Shreveport closed the gap between 1st and 3rd to 765 points.
The top two teams for Carson-Newman at the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open both finished inside of the Top 30. Drake Hemby & Ewing Minor finished in 13th, and Zach Wolfe & Jackson Farmer took 28th. Those two top finishes earned Carson-Newman 3,110 points to take their season total up to 12,015.
Entering the event, 21 of the Top 25 teams registered to compete at Lake Dardanelle. Many of those top teams capitalized on the double points opportunity at the second ACA event of the 2024-25 season. Seven teams earned over 3,000 points. Here is a look at the schools that earned the most points at last weekend’s event:
University of North Alabama: 3,420 points earned
University of Montevallo: 3,410 points earned
Drury University: 3,400 points earned
LSU-Shreveport: 3,380 points earned
McKendree University: 3,220 points earned
Carson-Newman University: 3,110 points earned
Tarleton State University: 3,020 points earned
The latest update to the points standings for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia saw a great deal of movement by teams. Each team ranked in the Top 25 competed in the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open at Lake Dardanelle. Here is a look at teams that made significant moves inside of the Top 25:
