Bethel University ranked 2nd, and LSU-Shreveport is in 3rd
SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 3, 2024) – Following the latest weekend of college fishing events, the Association of Collegiate Anglers updates the standings for the 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. This points update includes results from a MLF College Series major event, and a School-Run tournament hosted by the University of Montevallo.
Carson-Newman University earns over 2,000 points last weekend to move from 2nd up to 1st. Bethel University climbs three spots to be ranked 2nd, and LSU-Shreveport jumps six places to sit in 3rd.
Following the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley, Carson-Newman was ranked 2nd in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. The team from Jefferson City, TN had 13 boats compete at the MLF College Series event on Sam Rayburn. Their two highest finishing boats both placed in the Top 25, earning Carson-Newman enough points to move into number one for college fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system. Jacob Deel & Joe Vaulton placed 22nd, and Dylan May & Will Shepherd took 23rd. Those two Top 25 finishes earned Carson-Newman 2,070 points, and boosted their season total to 8,905 points.
The most points earned by any team to compete at Sam Rayburn was 2,400. Three different schools earned this points total: Bethel University, LSU-Shreveport, Stephen F. Austin.
Here are teams that made significant moves in the Top 25 for this points update to the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia:
3) LSU-Shreveport – Previously Ranked 9th
4)Tarleton State – Previously Ranked 10th
5) Wabash Valley College – Previously Ranked 11th
9) Drury University – Previously Ranked 17th
11) Dallas Baptist University – Previously Ranked 19th
Two teams moved into the Top 25 that were previously ranked on the outside looking in. Ben Burns & Grant Pursifull from Stephen F. Austin won the MLF College Series event, which aided in helping their school to move from 41st up to 22nd. Texas A&M jumped from 36th up to 21st.
The ACA will provide a points update to the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia following the double points AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open next weekend.
