San Antonio, TX (August 30, 2023) – The Association of Collegiate Anglers is set to announce the first official rankings of the 2023-24 season for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  College fishing’s only all encompassing National Rankings system began a new season on June 1, 2023 that will run through the conclusion of the Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops at Pickwick Lake on May 24, 2024.  Thousands of anglers representing hundreds of colleges and universities across the country will compete in dozens of points earning events over the course of the 12 month season.  Each team enters the new season full of excitement and optimism as they vie to accomplish their goals which range from finishing in the coveted Top 25 all the way up to finishing the season ranked number one.

Lander University tops the rankings for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia with a season total of 4,470 points.  Earning a significant amount of points at each of the first two major college fishing events of the season, Lander has built a 105 point lead over second ranked Emmanuel College.

Lander University started the season with two Top 20 finishes at the MLF College Series event on Lake Champlain.  Parker Lambert & Aaron Shumaker finished 9th, and Kaleb Brown & Cole Moulton took 19th.  Those two Top 20 finishes earned Lander a total of 1,240 points.

The other major event to be contested so far this season was the Bassmaster College Series Championship at Pickwick Lake.  Lander University’s two top teams earned a combined total of 3,230 points.  Kaleb Brown & Cole Moulton finished in 14th and Cole Taylor & Clay Taylor claimed 27th.

Lander University finished the 2022-23 season ranked 19th in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia, and was selected 17th overall in the ACA Pre-Season Poll, as voted upon by anglers, coaches, and media members.

The first rankings reveal of the 2023-24 season features event results from eight total points qualifying tournaments.  This includes multiple School-Run/Other sanctioned events, as well as a MLF College Series tournament and Bassmaster College Series Championship.

The Association of Collegiate Anglers recently revealed the results to its annual Pre-Season Poll.  Anglers, coaches, and media members submit their votes to rank the Top 25 teams in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia entering a new season.  20 of the Top 25 teams in this rankings reveal were voted inside of the Top 25 for the Pre-Season Poll.  Here are the five teams in the current Top 25 that were not selected by voters to be in the Top 25 entering the season:

20) University of Florida

23) Southwestern Michigan College

24) West Virginia University
