San Antonio, TX (May 30, 2023) – Last week, the Association of Collegiate Anglers contested its 18th BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops.  College fishing’s longest-running National Championship event boasted an elite field of close to 400 anglers and a total payout of over $30,000 in prizes & contingencies.  One of those major contingencies awarded at the conclusion of the event was Yamaha Power Pay.  The tournament contingency program offered by Yamaha paid out $2,000 to the highest finishing qualified team and $1,000 to the second highest finishing qualified team.

By finishing the 2023 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship as the highest finishing Yamaha Power Pay eligible team,  Tyler Campbell and Parker Guy earned $2,000.  The duo from 8th ranked Emmanuel College was in 33rd place after Day 1 of tournament competition on Lake Hartwell.  Campbell and Guy weighed in the biggest bag on Day 2 of the event, 20.89 pounds, to jump 30 places and finish in 3rd with a two-day total weight of 32.50 pounds.

The second highest finishing Yamaha Power Pay qualified team at Lake Hartwell was Chase Carey and Dylan Akins.  Also representing 8th ranked Emmanuel College, Carey & Akins finished the 2023 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops in 7th place with 30.68 pounds.  As the second highest finishing Yamaha Power Pay qualified team, Carey & Akins earned $1,000.

Yamaha Power Pay is a top-level tournament contingency program that rewards anglers for running Yamaha Outboards and placing high up in the standings at qualified events.  “Yamaha Power Pay program rewards anglers for their loyalty and passion for the sport of competitive fishing and the Yamaha brand,” said Connor Megan, Pro Staff and Sponsorship Supervisor, Yamaha Marine Engine Systems. “The 2023 season expands the reach of Power Pay further into the western U.S. and deeper into grass roots tournaments which are growing in popularity. We look forward to adding more anglers to the program this year and wish all of the competitors the best of luck as they take to the water.”

Since launching Power Pay in October 2019, Yamaha Marine has awarded nearly $1 million to anglers competing in saltwater and freshwater tournaments across the country.  All Association of Collegiate Anglers events are eligible for Yamaha Power Pay.  For a complete list of sanctioned tournaments for 2023 and other Power Pay information including official rules, terms and conditions, visit www.yamahapowerpay.com.
